Ron Roberts for Normandy School Board

I’m Ron Roberts, and I had the honor of serving as a member and past president of the Normandy School Board from 2021-2024. I firmly believe in a no-excuses leadership approach. Parents and the community must be an integral part of the decision-making process, especially when it comes to shaping our children's education. I also believe in holding individuals accountable for academic results. My commitment is to roll up my sleeves and do the hard work required to help our district achieve full accreditation.

My Connection to Normandy

Normandy is not just a school district to me; it’s where I grew up. I attended school in Bel-Ridge and Normandy during my formative years. Yes, I proudly carry the spirit of VIKING PRIDE everywhere I go. After high school, I went on to graduate from Morehouse College with a degree in Chemistry, and I continue to carry that same Viking Pride with me today.

The Challenges We Face

The unfortunate truth is that student test scores have been declining. The district is now on a dangerous path toward losing accreditation unless we take immediate and decisive action. If we don’t act swiftly, we risk facing the same fate as the Wellston School District, and our students will suffer as a result.

Our Students’ Potential

However, the truth is that our students are capable of much better academic performance. I am confident that Normandy has the foundation necessary to achieve full accreditation with hard work, diligence, strong leadership and bold moves. We can and will do better—our students deserve it, and I still proudly stand behind Viking Pride.

Restoring Trust and Listening to Our Community

The recent board decision to implement a district-wide cell phone ban was made without input from parents, students, or the community. This decision broke the trust that families had placed in the school board and left many feeling that their voices were ignored. When decisions are made without engaging those who are directly impacted, it undermines our shared commitment to the success of our students.

If elected to the school board, I promise to prioritize transparency, collaboration, and active communication. I will never approve a policy like a cell phone ban without first seeking feedback from parents, students, and the community. Your voice will always be valued.

Leadership & Transparency

I am a leader who believes in transparency, accountability, and results. I’ve always worked to ensure that informed decisions are made openly, just as I did as JEGB president when we collectively selected our current superintendent through an open and engaged process that included parents, staff, faculty, and community stakeholders. Now, we must come together once again to lock arms and work toward obtaining full accreditation for our district.

A Call for Strong Leadership

Our district is currently grappling with a lack of transparency, weak leadership, and a failure to hold individuals accountable. This is why I am asking for your vote on April 8th. We need strong leadership, and we need it now, to secure full accreditation and ensure our students get the quality education they deserve.

Conclusion: Every Child Deserves a Quality Education

Every child in our district deserves a good education, and it is time for us to work together to make that a reality. I’m committed to making Normandy a district we can all be proud of. On April 8th, I humbly ask for your vote to help me continue the fight for our children’s future.
